CONDUCTIVE FABRICS OVER FOAM GASKETS
Border Precision conductive fabrics over foam gaskets are formed by wrapping a conductive fabric or foil over a polyurethane foam elastomer core, which provides good recovery from being compressed. Coated with the correct additives these are high performing RFI/EMC gaskets capable of operating in varying environmental conditions, whilst providing highest levels of shielding effectives to equipment.
These types of gaskets are easily compressed, user friendly, and have high level of flame resistance and are able to operate at higher frequencies since there is no gaps in their construction.
Various conductive wrapping materials are available to suit your requirements:
- Nickel/Copper/Nickel plated – excellent shielding effectiveness and anti tarnish
- Carbon/Nickel/Copper/Nickel plated - providing good levels of waterproofing
- Gold plated – Excellent conductive and premium shielding performance levels
- Aluminium Foil – low cost alternative with good thermal dissipation properties
Conductive fabric used is based on a polyester textile yarn, which is uniformly plated to give low levels of resistivity (high conductivity). This ensures that this RFI/EMC gasket type provides good mechanical wear properties where wiping actions occur in operational use. Laminated conductive foam (I/O) gaskets also provide similar advantages:
- Easily compressed in operation
- Very high shielding performance – typically 60 – 100dB
- Excellent mechanical wear properties
- Minimal compression set
- Easily mounted using pressure sensitive adhesive backed tapes
- Available in a very wide range of profiles/cross-section and sizes
- Non flammable to UL94-V0 and HB certified
- RoHs compliant
Conductive clad foam gaskets are available in a variety of profile shapes to suit your specific application requirements. Dimensional range of gasket profile sizes range from:
Thickness 1.0mm – 50mm
Width 1.8mm – 60mm
Providing gap filling range of 0.5mm – 37.5mm
Specialised profiles can be produced to suit your specific design requirements on request. Gaskets are supplied to any cut lengths, variable up to 2.5m in length, or can be supplied assembled as a mitred corner ‘picture frame’ shape, or similar.
To compliment Border Precisions Conductive fabrics over foam gaskets we can also supply I/O Backplane gaskets to effectively shield the various multiple connectors and diverse configurations found on these panel Inputs and Outlets. These can be supplied made from laminated Conductive foams or Conductive fabrics wrapped over polyurethane foam.
